Did you know tomorrow is Holocaust Remembrance Day Did you know tomorrow is Holocaust Remembrance Day?⁣
⁣
On this day we honor all those murdered during the Holocaust. January 27 marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.⁣
⁣
My students and I are fortunate to live close to the Illinois Holocaust Museum, which we visit yearly during our Number the Stars unit. ⁣
⁣
To say this museum does a great job honoring those who lost their lives during the Holocaust would be an understatement. The museum is a powerful force for good, and is constantly educating our youth so nothing like this ever happens again. One of the most impactful thing they do is inviting survivors in to share their story, many of whom live in Skokie where the museum is located.
⁣
In the lockers you see in the picture, the museum amplifies the voices of those who have stood up to injustices in our world. Students learn about what happened and then see how that person (or group of people) chose to be upstanders. ⁣
⁣
And since the pandemic, the museum offers a lot of online resources/PD for teachers and students alike.⁣
⁣
Check out their website using the link in my bio!⁣

This is the face of a teacher that realized that s This is the face of a teacher that realized that she booked the bus and field trip for two different days AND wrote the incorrect day on the permission slip that was already sent home. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Luckily, I was able to change the bus and resend the permission slip, but it was a stressful few hours.

Ohhhhh field trips! 🤣
